Week 4 -Safety First

Hey there, folks! It's Week Four of our construction journey, and boy, it has been an eventful one. First and foremost, we want to urge everyone to stay safe out there because both of us got hit by Covid! We're doing our best to recover and keep things moving forward. Fortunately we were both vaccinated and we have done our best to mask up and avoid inside places where possible. Second, and somewhat frustratingly, we have lost our drone! Everywhere we have looked it has not been.

Now, onto the exciting updates! The footers are finally done and fixed, and that's not all. We now have foundation walls in place! Early in the week, the forms went up and received a thumbs-up from our favorite Boone County inspector. It's amazing to see our 12-plus foot foundation walls taking shape. The forms have been removed from the site, keeping us on track for our rigorous schedule.

We're always thrilled to share our progress with you, and it's heartwarming to know that our journey has caught the attention of our neighbors. The second neighbor reached out to me via text, and we happily gave them a personal tour of the concrete and dirt. And guess what? We'd love to offer the same to any of you! Let us know if you'd like a tour; we'd be glad to show you around.

This week's been a rollercoaster of emotions, but we're pushing through with determination and excitement. Speaking of roller coasters, we were also able to spend two marvelous days at Holiday World with some of our family. And, just like the last upside down twist of the Thunderbird coaster, we found our drone while writing this blog! More specifically, Donna found it on a chair in her dining room! We are watching our dream home take shape before our eyes. Remember, there will be challenges and setbacks along the way. But as we embrace those moments and learn from them, we might just be open enough to not miss the opportunities along the way.

Also: your safety matters, so take care of yourselves out there, and we'll be back with more news soon! Stay safe, give yourself permission to not always be so strong, and don’t forget to look on chairs in dining rooms for missing things!
