Week 35 - Insulation
This week at Sugarfield kicked off with a significant milestone: we passed key inspections for plumbing, electrical, structural components, and roofing. This success marked a major leap forward in our construction timeline, allowing us to proceed with insulation, which requires prior clearance of electrical and plumbing systems. Celebrating these achievements truly started our busiest week with a bang.
Following a recent concern about water intrusion, we received some insights from our architectural team and the general contractor, NEON. The primary issue was identified as loose tape over the top windows, which had allowed water to seep through. The solution was swift and effective: the old tape was removed and replaced with new zip tape to ensure a watertight seal. Meanwhile, our roofing team made significant progress by installing the majority of the back roof and completing a substantial amount of the necessary trim.
On the day designated for insulation installation, Sugarfield was buzzing with activity. The site was a flurry of coordination and logistics, hosting an extensive array of subcontractors. With roofers finessing the trim work and a six-person crew dedicated to insulation, space was at a premium. Remarkably, everyone found a spot to park despite the crowd. Adding to the hive of activity, a technician from Indiana Geothermal was busy optimizing the geothermal line's airflow, a crucial step for our sustainable energy goals.
Moreover, a three-person crew from REMC, our local power cooperative, was hard at work. They took on the task of burying the power cable that runs from the temporary pole to the house, a vital part of our infrastructure setup that ensures a reliable power supply for the future.
