Week 15

Another week of exciting progress. This last week the walls continue to go up on the main floor. We started the week with one wall of the garage and we ended the week with a roof! The framing crew has been working from sunup to sundown to make the most of this amazing weather we have been having. We are so thankful for their long hours and have been trying to keep them stocked with oatmeal cookies and banana bread.

What amazed me about this building stage was the bracing and structure the framing crew had to build to work safely. So much thought goes into how to support the walls until sheathing can be in place. There is so much structure to support the structure that is all temporary and all built on the fly with no plans, just on-the-spot engineering, and experience.

Mom and I took a side quest to make the most of the weather and ventured to Turkey Run for the afternoon. Turkey Run has the magic ability to make you feel like you stumbled into a Tolkein book rather than central Indiana. We knocked out 4 miles of rugged trails, including going UP the 140 steps.

Josh and I spent Sunday relaxing in our living room. Having the space defined by exterior walls and roof framing has really helped us appreciate the careful thought and design that has gone into our home. It is becoming easier to imagine living in our dream home. I may or may not have spent a good amount of time considering where our Christmas tree/trees will be located next year.
