Plans within Plans

Team Miller is building a house. This is not a surprise to anyone that knows us or follows me on Instagram. As we draw closer to breaking ground, we decided to have a more formal way to document the process. And anyone that knows us knows we LOVE to document!

This blog will go back in time to catch everyone up with our process of who, what, when, where, and why. And then, it will continue as we break ground, hopefully in the spring of 2023.

As of today, October 31, 2022, our architect and builder, Neon Architecture, is finalizing plans to be submitted to contractors for bidding. We have heard from others how intimidating the building process can be with all of the decisions that have to be made. We are so thankful to have the guidance of the Neon team to help steer and streamline our dreams. (Josh isn’t getting a turret or a tunnel).

Some of the reasons the process has been easy to this point are that this is something we have been dreaming of as a couple since we have been married and something I have been dreaming of ever since I figured out I could make my own doll house floor plans with building blocks. Since then, I have been doodling plans in 3D Home Architect, graph paper, or on the iPad.

Each phase has gotten more refined and simplified; I started out wanting a grand Victorian complete with a painted lady exterior; next was the farmhouse, followed by a timber frame; while I love all of those house styles, nothing compares to our/Neon’s creation of our idea of modern cozy :) A home that will be unique to Team Miller.  We can’t wait for the day we can invite all of you over for board games, Quiplash, and a smoked brisket at Sugarfield Home.

Let the dreaming begin continue…
